The impact of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and stroke on individuals, families and the health care system, makes them some of America’s greatest medical, social and economic challenges of our time. The team of talented professionals within the Center for Healthy Aging (CHA), through their efforts in cutting-edge research, are making new discoveries that may translate to new diagnostic and treatment options for age-associated diseases of the brain that include Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, the active participation of our faculty in the training of the next generation of professionals in the area of the biology of brain aging and related neurodegenerative diseases will help ensure the sustainability of efforts to eradicate such age-associated issues.
